1.	Minimum Holding Time is equal to the amount of seconds a drop of coolant will have to spend in the coalescer. The longer the time the better, as it allows gravity to do a better job separating the oil droplets from the coolant. It is calculated by dividing the coalescer’s capacity by the flow rate.
2.	Exposed Surface Area is critical for enhancing the coalescing function of your Zebra Muscle™. The minimum area is defined by the walls and base of the unit. The Plus and Deluxe units utilize coalescing medium to increase the amount of surface area. The more area for oil to coalesce on, the better for your system.
3.	Minimum Treacherous Path (MTP) is equivalent to how far a drop of coolant must travel in order to exit the coalescing system. We measure it from where the coolant gets injected to where it enters the internal coolant outlet assembly at the bottom of the barrel. The MTP is defined by the pipes and coalescing medium present. In the Regular unit, the path is a straight line from the coolant injection port to the exit port of the unit. In the Plus and Deluxe units, the Coalescing Cartridge and coalescing medium increases the MTP length and removes entrained air.
